◈ THE LEVENTARS ◈

The Misunderstood | The Failed Creation
Not Monsters—Just Broken

What They Are

The Leventars are not monsters. They are victims.

Created accidentally by Zeneph when the Bucklah magic was dying, the Leventars emerged wrong—not evil, but malfunctioning. They spread a sickness called "the darkness" that infects dragons, turning them into more Leventars. The plague spreads from Korriel's wasteland, consuming realms.

But here is the truth Zeneph refuses to see: the Leventars aren't causing the sickness intentionally. They are the sickness made manifest—broken creations leaking corrupted soul energy because their creator never learned how to make them properly.

The Creation Failure

What Zeneph Intended: A new species to populate his realm, beautiful and functional.

What Actually Emerged: Creatures that spread death wherever they go.

Why It Failed: Zeneph was drawing from the River of Souls without permission while the Bucklah magic was dying. The combination created beings whose very existence is corrupted.

What Zeneph Did: Cast them out instead of trying to understand or heal them.

The Result: The Leventars now roam free, spreading the plague, hated and feared—abandoned by their creator who never took responsibility for making them wrong.

The Darkness - The Leventar Plague

The Tragedy

"You did nothing to figure out why they were making people sick. And now they are out there causing pain to who knows what, who knows where."

— Tolraun's condemnation

The Leventars are tragic because:

What Zeneph Refuses to See

Tolraun knows the truth: "I think the Leventars came about because that magic is dying. And that is why they were making people sick."

The Bucklah is failing. The River of Souls cannot sustain the unchecked borrowing. The Leventars are the WARNING SIGN—creation gone wrong because the creator never learned to ask permission.

If Zeneph would STUDY the Leventars instead of fearing them, he would understand:

But Zeneph won't look. He just casts them out and hopes they disappear.

Korriel's Connection

Korriel's wasteland is ground zero for the Leventar plague. His corrupted Bucklah fragment is the epicenter of the spreading darkness.

But here's what makes it worse: Korriel doesn't know his fragment is the source. He thinks HE is cursed, that everything he touches dies because of some flaw in him personally.

The truth: It's not Korriel. It's the broken technology he inherited and doesn't understand.

When Lanora becomes Keeper of the River and the Bucklah is reassembled:

The Theological Question

Tolraun's Teaching: "Life carries a very delicate balance. You cannot create things without consequences!"

The Leventars Prove This:

• Zeneph created without understanding → Leventars emerged broken
• Zeneph abandoned them instead of healing → plague spreads
• Zeneph refuses responsibility → innocent dragons die
• Zeneph won't ask for help → problem compounds

Sister's Core Theology: "You can't keep tossing out what you don't understand just because they challenge your thinking."

The Leventars are Zeneph's greatest teachers. They show what happens when a god creates without mercy, without responsibility, without humility.

When Lanora ascends, she will not destroy the Leventars. She will ask Zeneph: "What did you learn from making them?"

And Zeneph will have to answer.

The Path to Redemption

The Leventars can be saved. But not by Zeneph alone.

What Must Happen:

This is mercy. Not destruction. Not abandonment. Responsibility.

What the Leventars Represent

The Leventars are not the villains of this story. They are the EVIDENCE.

Evidence that:

They are sister's creation—her way of showing that the "monster" is often just the victim of a careless creator.
