Darth woke up this morning to yelling and screaming outside his window. He jumped out of bed and ran to see what was going on. He rubbed his eyes to get the last of the sleep away. He was sure he was still dreaming because there is no way his mother and father could be arguing like this.
He ran to his closet and threw on his normal leather styled garments. The black and silver indicated his royal station. He quickly ran a brush through his hair and burst out of his room. But to his surprise. Three guards arrested him.
“My grace, I am sorry but your mother has ordered you not to leave your room.” They grabbed him and forced him backwards and closed the door securing it tightly.
“Fuck” he swore under his breath. He heard a noise in the corner of his room. A soft tapping. He smirked knowing exactly who it was. He went to the corner and opened a secret passage in his wall.
On the other side of the door was his best friend. Lance. “What is going on out side” Darth asked with a hint of fear in his voice. Lance only looked like death had warmed over.
“You are going to want to stay in here, it is safer.” Lance crossed his arms.
“What?!? Why?” Darth growled.
Lance shook his head. “I am sorry Darth, but it must be this way.”
“I do not und-” Lance injected a needle into Darth’s neck and his world went black.
Sapphrine paced back and forth. “But Renaldo! He is my son! I think he is innocent. He could not have possibly killed all of those children!”
His sapphire eyes bore into her soul. “Lance, saw him do Sapphrine.”
“I do not care, I can not and will not kill him.” She crossed her arms.
“And what about Clandareth? He is on a rampage tormenting your entire kingdom. They will fall if you do not act.”
She hung her head. She knew he was right. “Fine, what can counter Chaos?”
“Well things naturally go to chaos, so you must find a way to obtain enough energy to power enough Order to overcome his barrier.” Renaldo let a wild expression come into his eyes. “You swear by the power of love? why not create something with that?” He hands her a book, and walks out without another word.
She looks down to the book in her hands and lets out the deepest sigh. She heard a scream outside and rushes to her window. Out side there are daemons attacking her people. With the death of each new guardian a daemon is born multiplying their forces exponentially.
She growled and ran over to her alchemist desk, she swiftly looks through her index and finds the spell needed. In her drawer she found her crystal ball. She took it out and put in on the table. Her eyes scanned the book and she started an incantation.
Her eyes began to water, and her hands began to sweat, she placed her palms on the crystal as she finished the last of her spell. A wispy smoke rose from her chest and swirled into a face before her.
“Are you sure you want to sacrifice your love to save your people?”
“If I do not save my people how can I love them?”
Fair enough it whispered before floating into the crystal ball. A flash of intense energy ruptured out of the crystal and cast all the daemons out of her lands.
She fainted.
Sapphrine woke a day later. Her King sat next to her. “My love what did you do to keep the daemons at bay?” Clandareth asked her.
She looked away and looked back slowly. “I – I sacrificed my love.”
“I am confused, what do you mean?” He looked at her with a deep confusion in his expression.
She pointed to the table. There sat a glowing orb of power. “I mean I sacrificed my love my ability to feel love to save my people.”
He looked even more confused than ever. Clandareth walked over to the orb and he picked it up. When his warm hand touched the glowing sphere his eyes flashed and then went dull as it absorbed his ability to love as well. His eyes did something hers did not. They turned red.
His confusion hardened into an icy glare. “I shall take this.” he went to exit the room. But as he walked further and further from Sapphrine. The orb glowed hotter and hotter, until it instantly burst into flames in his hand. He dropped it and quickly wrapped his hand with his cloak to suffocate the flames.
The fire did not go out, and instead it consumed his entire body. She sat up in her bed and watched as her husband turned to ash. The last of his body’s charged flesh fell to the pile of dust below. A daemon hissed at her and the guardians in the room. The orb flashed and forced him out of her lands.
Ratallian scowled. “My Queen it looks as if your husband had already crossed over.” He bowed. “I will gladly sacrifice my love for our people too.” He walked over and picked up the orb. It flashed again, but his eyes did not turn red. They went to an ashy stardust grey like his Queen’s.
She sighed, “We must gather everyone so we can have the power to cast the daemons out of all of our lands. And I must kill my son, He will be tainted by his fathers influence as well.”
“Ratallian, let us take this crystal ball and mount it to my staff. It shall forever more be referred to as “The Grand Keeper’s Staff”
If we do not remember doing something, does it mean we did not do it?
Darth woke up with a pounding headache. He tried to rub his head but he could not. His hands were bound in prisoner chains. He was being held captive. His wrists above his head with iron cuffs. He tried to speak but he was gagged. His mind was foggy. He was having difficulty remember what happened.
As his vision became clearer, so did his sense of smell. The scent of blood on his robes made him sick. He turned his head from left to right. The room was full of his friends. His confusion deepened when Lance walked into the room with a wicked smirk on his face.
“Well I can not say I did not warn you my Prince. You should not have gone against your mother, not after she had told you to stay in your room.” Lance crossed his arms.
Darth could not speak, but his glare became angry as the events came back to him. Lance had injected him with something, and he lost his ability to control his own body. He had to watch from the background as he slaughtered all the inhabitants of the orphanage.
“Your mother is on her way here, to send you to the crystal prison. I guess, next time you should choose your friends wiser.”
Sapphrine walked in, the confidence in her stride felt cold. A shiver of fear ripped through his spine. Tears formed in his eyes. He tried to speak but he could not through the gag.
She simply smirked. “My son, you are far too much like your father. I fear I am going to have to send you to the crystal prison.”
He shook his head violently. Her smirk grew slightly. “Your opinion and your side matters not to me. Unchain him and bring him to the executioner’s block.”
Darth watched in horror unable to defend himself. His body went limp as he was forcefully carried out to be publicly executed for his “crimes” that he couldn’t even remember. He was secured to a cross in the middle of the grounds.
Sapphrine watched. Some how this felt wrong, but she had no desire to change it. Her new Grand Keeper’s Staff glowed.
